It includes the southern zone of the Xth Region, called “De los Lagos”, the XIth zone of Aysen, and the XIIth region of Magallanes. In the Xth and XIth regions, Chile seems to break in small islands, of which Chiloé's Island stands out. We also find here the “Carretera Longitudinal Austral President Pinochet”, the Elizalde Lake , the river Futaleufú and the Laguna San Rafael.
Undoubtedly the “Carretera Austral” (Southern Highway) that runs over one thousand miles go through this region and it represents one of the best efforts of man to dominate these sites. It begins in Puerto Montt and in the first kilometres, “Alerce Andino” national parks and “Hornopirén” immediately attracts the interest of visitors. Más al sur existe el Parque Pumalín, producto de una iniciativa particular por conservar y proteger nuestra diversidad biológica. Further south there is the Pumalin Park, a product of a unique initiative to conserve and protect our biodiversity.
