Puerto Octay it is located next to a bay of Lago Llanquihue and right in the context of a privileged landscape where is Volcán Osorno. The location is 48 kilometers from Puerto Varas and 970 kilometers south from Santiago. You will find many beaches of fine sand and gentle slopes which characterize the sector, suitable for water sports.
In the city many houses of the nineteenth century are kept in good condition, thanks to the legacy of German colonization. Amongst these are the Museum “El Colono”, whose theme recreates the experiences of pioneers and community development. One of the main attractions of this area of our country is its impressive architecture. Strolling through the streets of Puerto Octay, traced back to 1900, the visitor can appreciate the high quality and fine workmanship of the various buildings.
In the “Casa de la Cultura Held Emilio Winkler” (House of Culture of Held Emilio Winkler ) have a vast collection of historical documents, articles and photographs of families of settlers can be reviewed.
