The city of Pucon its located at 870 kilometers to the south of Santiago and 110kms. of the regional capital of Temuco.
The population is around 13,750.
It is located around the following lakes: Villarrica, Huilipilún, Colico, Caburga and Calafquén.
This route is connected with Argentina through Paso Border Mamuil Malal. It has good access roads, large number of buses which connect the area and an airport where flights arrive from Santiago in the summer season.
Pucón offers quality and variety with the existing equipment as world class tourism resources. The landscape is very attractive because of its vegetation, mountains, national parks and the most important benchmark: the majestic Villarrica volcano.
The destination is known for the abundance of vegetation. The National Parks of Villarrica and Huerquehue, allow excellent observation of nature. |

RAFTING
Rafting on the Trancura River is very well known, with two different stretches:
Low Trancura: with gentle waters and class III rapids, such as El Pescador and La Junta de los Rios; ideal options to enjoy family fun.
High Trancura: one hour and forty five minutes long, it includes stunning waterfalls. It is considered class IV and apt for the more experienced people.
HORSEBACK RIDING
Around Pucón, there are different centers to go horseback riding, saddle up for those with no experience and for those who have absolute control on the activity. The most experienced guides will lead you through the beautiful landscape on 3 hour excursions for those with little or no experience, or up to 9 days for the more adventurous.
TREKKING
Pucón is the starting point for many different excursions to National Parks of extraordinary beauty, to volcanoes with natural viewing points of the valleys, to Villarrica Lake and panoramic views of more than 10 volcanoes on the horizon. Walks to lakes and waterfalls, inserted between mountains with beautiful thousand year old forests can also be scheduled.
SKIING AND SNOWBOARDING
Villarrica Pucón Ski Center: It is located in the Villarrica National Park, on the north eastern hillside of this Volcano, 18 kms from Pucón. The descent is backed by the eternal smoking of the volcano, with views of the central valley and the 5 lakes; an unforgettable experience.
MOUNTAIN BIKING
If you have not travelled with a mountain bike to Pucón, it is possible to rent one to visit the most interesting and beautiful places nearby the town.
THERMALISM
In the Pucón area there are more than seven thermal bath centers, with water temperatures that go between 34°C and 45°C. Most of them have outdoor pools and individual baths, massages and therapies. There are more rustic ones with fewer infrastructures. |
